Licensure and Educational Background
Jason earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1998 and completed his Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of South Florida in 2003. He has been a licensed psychotherapist in Florida since 2006. Confirmation and information about Jason’s licensure can be found here . He has also received extensive training in the area of Play Therapy which is the use of the therapeutic powers of play to help clients prevent or resolve psychosocial difficulties and achieve optimal growth and development. He also has trained in Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR). TIR is a systematic evidenced based approach that has been proven to reduce the symptoms of post traumatic stress. |
Professional Affiliations
Jason is a member in good standing with the National Association of Social Workers. He is a member of the International Association for Play Therapy and has served as the Vice President of the local Tampa chapter. He has served on the conference committee for FAPT state conferences. He is also a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and the National Association of Christian Social Workers.
Treatment Approach
Jason provides a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental atmosphere for his clients to find solutions and move forward with their lives. He believes that a healthy therapeutic relationship built on trust, respect, and awareness of feelings can be helpful in providing his clients with the personal growth and change they are seeking. In order to do this, he believes it is important to listen to understand the underlying emotional sources to their challenges and create opportunities for change and healing.
